Friends of Mr. & Mrs. Archie Woods were grieved to hear  that his father had been accidently killed on Thursday, May 15,  but accurate details were lacking. According to the Hume (ILL)  Record, Mr. Woods, who is a banker of Paris, Ill had driven to  the Reservoir Park near that city. When he started to return he  found his gasoline exhausted. He was talking with a friend when a  car approached. Mr. Woods stepped into the road to hail the car,  but the driver, instead of stopping, drove over him, striking the  right side of his head and throwing him 30 feet. The base of the  skull was fractured. He lived from four until half past nine that  evening. The auto also ran over the foot of the man Mr. Woods was  talking to. The driver was Carrol Sizemore, the 17-year-old son  of the sheriff of Edgar County. He drove at top speed to Paris  and was not found until 10:00 at night. He claimed that he lost  control of his car and hurried to town because he was scared. A  man who was riding with him testified that he was drunk. The jury  that investigated the case found him guilty of manslaughter and  he is now in jail under $10,000 bond. Mr. Woods was born in  Columbus, Ohio June 2, 1861. He leaves a widow and three  children, Archie, Mrs. Mary Shipman of Washington DC and George  Woods of Chicago.
